This fund collects money from investors and uses it to buy shares of small companies located outside the United States that pay dividends to shareholders. It provides investors with exposure to international markets and dividend income without having to research and buy individual foreign stocks themselves. The fund makes money for investors through stock price appreciation and by collecting and distributing dividend payments from the companies it owns.
